Welcome, my name is Molly Hansen and I am one of the six first grade teachers at Ben Franklin (BF). This will be my third year of teaching first grade at BF.
I will be starting my fourth year of teaching this year. I have taught first grade the past two years. Before that I taught third grade in Watertown, Wisconsin. I received my Bachelor's degree in Education at St. Norbert College in Middle Childhood/Early Adolescence (grades 1-8) as well as a have a minor in Broadfield Science.
Classes I teach:
During the morning is when we have our literacy block. I will be teaching both reading and writing using the Lucy Calkins curriculum as well as the workshop approach. During both workshops there will be a whole group lesson, independent work time, small group instruction, and individual conferring. We will be using Handwriting Without Tears and Words Their Way for word work. In the afternoon, I will be teaching Math using the Bridges curriculum as well as incorporating science and social studies into our day.
I can be reached easily by email at firstname.lastname@example.org which I check frequently throughout the day. If you need to reach me during the afternoon you can call the classroom and leave a voicemail, I will return your call as soon as possible. My number is 262-946-5205. However if you are calling about an emergency please contact the office at 262-255-8470.
*Please note--for mid-day transportation changes, do not leave voice messages or emails. Let the office know of the change and they will let me know.
